Mica Parks is a native Oklahoman who moved to Arkansas in August of 2010. Her husband, Shane, works for Tyson Foods, Inc. and they have a 3-year old son, named Karsten.

Mica and her family raise pygmy/kiko goats on their farm. Pygmy goats serve as great pets, lawnmowers, brush clearers, or meals; these goats are perfect for all of these jobs. Our goats roam the pastures daily, foraging and keeping the grass mowed down for us. They are quite entertaining to watch and every goat has its own personality. Our favorite time of year is kidding season, when we have lots of bay goats running around.

Greener Pastures goats are slaughtered at a USDA inspected facility. Goat meat is very lean, tastes great and according to the USDA is the healthiest red meat available.

Mica began making soap in September 2012. She came up with the idea, when she found herself with an abundance of goat milk in the freezer. Instead of throwing the precious liquid away, she decided to turn it into something wonderful and amazing – soaps. Natural soaps are great for the skin, but when goat milk is added to them it makes them creamy and nourishing. In addition to goat milk soap Greener Pastures sells, sugar scrubs, shaving whips, salt scrubs and bath teas. Mica is hoping to expand her bath products line to include lotions, bath bombs and bath soaks. She will gladly do custom orders. Soaps take 4-6 weeks to cure after being made and scrubs take 2-3 weeks if a fragrance needs to be ordered.

Because of her busy schedule, Mica does not milk her own goats. All of Greener Pastures’ goat milk is currently procured from independent goat farms that we personally visit to ensure the very best quality. All batches are personally tested before sale and shipment. If we don’t like it we won’t sell it.

Why Use Goat Milk Soap?

Goat milk soap is wonderful for people with dry, sensitive skin, or conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. It is also perfect for healthy skin that wants to stay healthy. Read on to discover why.

The protein strands of goat milk are shorter than other types of milk and are more readily absorbed by the skin.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids: Goat milk contains alpha-hydroxy acids such as lactic acid which help remove dead skin cells from your skin’s surface. This leaves new cells on the surface of your skin that are smoother and younger looking. Alpha-hydroxy acids are effective because they break down the bonds that hold the dead skin cells together. Removing dead skin cells helps many skin conditions by removing irritation. Goat milk has naturally occurring lactic acid that helps keep skin smooth by encouraging skin turnover (it acts similar to a gentle peel).

Vitamins and Minerals: Goat milk contains many vitamins, but is particularly high in Vitamin A, which is necessary to repair damaged skin tissue, and maintain healthy skin. There have been several medical studies showing that creams made with Vitamin A reduce lines and wrinkles, control acne, and provide some psoriasis relief. It also contains many other vitamins and nutrients like vitamin C, D, B1, B6, B12 and E. Goat milk contains important minerals for the skin such as selenium. Selenium is believed by scientists to have an important role in preventing skin cancer. Selenium can also help prevent damage to the skin from excessive time in the sun.

Cream: Fat molecules are an important part of making good soap. The cream that is present in goat milk helps boost the moisturizing quality of goat milk soaps. Goat milk is very moisturizing and nourishing to the skin because of capric-caprylic triglyceride. Capric-caprylic triglyceride is an effective skin moisturizer that helps to contribute to skin softness by forming a barrier on the skin to help inhibit the loss of moisture. It is the only milk that contains naturally occurring capric-caprylic triglycerides. Goat milk soap will not dry your skin out like many other soaps. This is important because keeping skin naturally moisturized helps keep skin healthy.
