This Saturday, April 6th, is our last pick up at Pour Jons because Saturday, April 13th, we open up in City Park! The Outdoor Market returns each Saturday through October 12th from 8 am to 1 pm. Sometime in late spring we will move to Memorial Park. It’s going to be a great season!

Get your favorites this week and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and maybe a bagel breakfast sandwich. Thank you for faithfully supporting local farmers and vendors.

See you Saturday!

It’s been difficult to read all the stories about the flooding and devastation in Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers as these families are facing complete loss of generational family farms, livestock, and severe damage to land and buildings. While the farmers are weighing heavy on my heart I have to remember that this affects ALL businesses and residents of these communities. So much devastation. Rebuilding will take time and money.

I’m thankful our farmers and vendors are not facing these challenges but know it could happen here as well.

The closer we get to opening day the more excited I get. I’m looking forward to spring green onions, radishes, greens, and all the baked goods, meats and more.

Make sure to take advantage of the March Madness chicken sale and save those bones to make some good broth. Thank you for continuing to order meat from Dos Locos Farm. If you haven’t had any of his pork chops you are missing out!

Enjoy your week and see you Saturday!

Spring is in the air! Our farmers are planting root crops like potatoes, carrots, onions, and more. Greens are already growing well as we’ve seen at Opossum Hollow Farm. Seedlings are growing in greenhouses. Bees are buzzing everywhere enjoying the nectar from the tiniest of the first wildflowers to show up in spring. New worker bees are emerging to help bring in the pollen and nectar for the summer honey harvest. Bacon is growing in the woodland pastures, and steak and chicken are free ranging under the beautiful sun. Chickens are laying eggs a plenty. Life is good on the farm.

It’s a beautiful week for Spring Break. Get outside and soak up some Vitamin D this week. Remember to place an order by Thursday at 10 p.m. See you Saturday!

The March Madness sale on whole chickens will be going on all month! Two 3-3.5 lb chickens for $20!

Opening day for outdoor market season is April 13th in City Park. The market will move to Memorial Park sometime in late spring if weather cooperates with construction.

The Mitchell family, owners of Dos Locos Farm, have an amazing opportunity to fulfill a dream they’ve had for quite sometime. Unfortunately this means they will not be returning to our outdoor market. We appreciate everything they did to ensure our market had meat last year. They went above and beyond! They still have meat to sell so please check out their inventory. Thank you David! Your family will be missed!

Tim and Cheryl of Opossum Hollow Produce are going to raise pork to sell. You may have seen your future bacon in photos on their Facebook and Instagram page. They are living a happy life!

Have a great week, cheer on the bacon, and see you Saturday!

Just Kidding - Produce is Available!

Farmer Tom from Opossum Hollow just let me know that because the sun is out and shining things warmed up enough that he had to uncover the plants. He just listed some inventory for this week – all your favorites ARE available!

Let’s hope the weather decides to behave like spring and produce will be available all the time!

It’s March Madness! Raised Rite Poultry is having a sale – 2 Whole Chickens $20 (3-3.5 lb range). This is a great deal and you can use the entire bird and have no waste. Roast them up and then use the carcass to make broth. You can freeze the broth and even freeze the cooked, pulled meat in packages to use for nights when you need to make a quick meal. Chicken tacos, a casserole, or soup.

Dos Locos has some great pork chops, steaks, and ground beef. Payne Farms has eggs and pecans. There is honey, baked goods, and the best all natural, locally made home and personal care products.

Opossum Hollow is taking care of their amazing greens by keeping them under frost blankets during these cold temperatures. This means there will still be greens in the future but there won’t be any this week. Thankful our farmers go the extra mile to take care of things.

Stay warm, have a great week, and see you Saturday!

It’s so nice to see the sun shining but it’s deceptive because the temperature is barely above 20 degrees right now.

We are looking for volunteers to help us during the summer at the outdoor market and would love to have you join us! You can complete an application online here:

The pecans Payne Farms are so good! I can’t stop snacking on them. I highly recommend purchasing some.

Outdoor market season will be here before you know it! Looking forward to another great season!

Stay warm this week and see you Saturday!
