Produce Update

www.siloamsprings.locallygrown.net

Opossum Hollow says the greens need a break this week due to the cold snap last week and lack of sun. There won’t be any produce inventory this week.

Here’s hoping to sunshine this week….not sure it’s going to warm up much but sun sure helps.

See you Saturday!

Good morning! This week Opossum Hollow Produce will not have anything online as Tom, Cheryl, and myself will be attending the Southern Sustainable Agriculture Working Group conference in Little Rock. We are excited about networking with other farmes and learning as much as we can. We will be attending a couple of special sessions and I am going on a field trip to Heifer Ranch! Friday and Saturday are general conference sessions and hopefully we’ll all be able to attend different sessions so we come away with as much info as possible.

Payne Farms is now selling pecans! These pecans are grown by a neighbor who has a farm in Sapulpa. They are Pawnee Mammoth Pecan Halves and were just processed (shelled & packed) this month! They are super fresh and Ericka says she is having a hard time not eating them. :) You will find them under the Nuts category and she is selling 1 lb and 3 lb packages. They store well in the freezer so be sure to stock up!

Remember to buy your farm fresh eggs, locally raised pork, poultry, lamb, and beef, and locally made breads, honey, all natural personal and home care products, and Mica’s awesome bar soaps!

Have a great week! Our Main Street Director Kelsey will be at Pour Jons to administrate order pick up.

See you in a week!

January is flying by but the greens are doing well despite the cold and lack of sun.

There is broccoli, chard, spinach, and lettuce. Lots of great chicken from Raised Rite Poultry and beef, pork, and lamb from Dos Locos.

Brenda, Susi, and Christa are ready to bake your bread. Nothing better than fresh, homemade bread for toast or a sandwich.

Melissa and Mica have your all natural home and personal care products and bar soaps.

Enjoy your week and see you Saturday!

I hope everyone was able to enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend and spend some time outside. What a blessing to have warm weather in January.

The Farmers Market Steering Committee enjoyed a wonderful planning day at Opossum Hollow Farm last week. Our committee consists of farmers and community members – Tom Fairbanks and Cheryl Wells (Opossum Hollow Produce), David Mitchell (Dos Locos Farm), Jesyka Farley, Deborah Rowden, Casey Letellier, and Jessica Pinkerton. They all work hard to help me make our market the best it can be! I really appreciate their time.

Enjoy shopping this week and see you Saturday!

The last day of 2018. This year has been good to us and I am thankful. Looking forward to what 2019 brings.

With the holidays over it’s time to settle back in to a normal routine. Our farmers have lots to offer in selections of healthy meats and there is spinach, chard, buttercrunch lettuce, and kale. Farm fresh eggs are available as well as local honey. Let our bakers bake up some fresh bread or rolls and don’t forget we have great all natural home and personal care products, laundry detergent, and home made soaps.

Happy New Year! Have a great week and see you Saturday!
