Orchard Road Farm is a multi-generational family farm. It was established in 1952 by Orville and Rita Reed. After a few hard years of clearing land, a dairy farm was started in 1959. A few years later, in 1965, they built a chicken house and continued as a dairy and chicken farm until 1979 when they decided to sell the dairy operation. Then in 1982, they made the decision to buy another cattle herd, but this time they bought beef cows.

This brings us to Rick (Orville’s and Rita’s son) and Stephanie Reed who bought the farm in 1984. By 1987, the two had built a second chicken house. At the time, Rick and Steph grew chickens commercially until 2015 when an opportunity arose to grow free-range broilers and they decided to take a leap of faith.

In 2021, we (Jake and Kaitlyn Reed) got married and decided to buy into the farm by becoming partners with Rick and Steph. Before we knew it, we were transitioning from growing commercially to raising our own grass-fed beef and pastured poultry.
